9/11

9/11 Exhibit

On September 11th, our 5th grade students participated in a powerful and educational field trip to the 2025 Major Brent Taylor Foundation 9/11 Project at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. This annual event is dedicated to honoring the heroes of September 11, 2001, teaching the next generation, and encouraging community service.

A Day of Learning and Inspiration

The students began their visit by exploring the immersive 9/11 Museum Experience. Through interactive exhibits, photos, videos, and authentic artifacts, students walked through a timeline of the events leading up to and following September 11, 2001. They heard first-hand accounts of bravery and sacrifice, helping them understand the significance of that day and the actions of first responders.

Connecting with Community Heroes

Next, students attended the Community Resource Fair, where they met local veterans, firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel. Students learned about different service organizations and discovered ways to get involved in their own community. The fair was a unique opportunity to ask questions, make connections, and see civic engagement in action.

Hands-On Experiences

A major highlight was the Touch-a-Truck Exhibit. Students climbed aboard police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and even military equipment. They interacted with the professionals who use these vehicles every day to keep our communities safe. This hands-on experience sparked curiosity and appreciation for those who serve.

Reflecting on Service and Leadership

In the Children’s Corner, our students created heartfelt thank you cards for first responders and military personnel. This activity helped students express gratitude and reflect on the importance of service, leadership, and community.

A Lasting Impact

The 9/11 Project provided our 5th graders with a meaningful connection to history and a deeper understanding of the importance of service. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this event and proud of our students for their curiosity, respect, and engagement.

Together, we ensure the lessons of 9/11—and the values of courage, service, and unity—are never forgotten.
