This year, we welcomed a new team of student leaders: our Grizz Coaches! After a selection and training process, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders are taking on important roles each day at recess.
4th Grade Grizz Coaches help kindergarteners feel welcome and safe during recess.
5th Grade Grizz Coaches make sure all playground equipment is pumped up, set out, and ready for fun.
6th Grade Grizz Coaches keep our recess closet organized and put everything away at the end of each day.
On Mondays and Fridays, all three grades come together to host Rockin Recess—a special music and dance time led by the Grizz Coaches. Using a school-approved playlist and an iPad, they take and vet song requests, set up the speaker, and invite everyone to join in the fun. During our first Rockin Recess, students from all grades stopped to dance and enjoy music together, making for a memorable and joyful recess.
We’re proud of our Grizz Coaches for showing leadership, responsibility, and school spirit. Their efforts are helping create a positive and inclusive playground where every student can have fun and feel involved.
