Walk to School

This morning, students and families from Grovecrest Elementary gathered at the Murdock Canal Trailhead to walk to school together in honor of Ruby Bridges, a symbol of courage in American history. The event, organized in partnership with AAA and the Pleasant Grove Police Department, highlighted the school’s ongoing commitment to kindness.

The idea for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day began in 2018, when a student asked, “Why isn’t there a day for Ruby Bridges?” That simple question sparked a nationwide movement. Since then, over 343,000 students from 1,400 schools have joined in, inspiring young people to be brave and stand up for what is right.

This marks the fourth year Grovecrest Elementary has participated. “This event is what Grovecrest is about and we believe in being kind toward everyone, no matter their skin color,” said a school representative. The event not only celebrates history but also encourages students to embody kindness every day.

A huge shout out goes to the Pleasant Grove Police Department for their support and partnership in making the event a success.
